Cycling in the Ross of Mull and Iona
This area is a cyclist's dream — quiet roads, stunning coastlines, and some of the best views in Scotland. That said, most roads here are single-track, meaning one lane with passing places. Be sure to:
Always let faster traffic pass when safe.
Single-track roads have passing places, which are wider sections of the road designed for vehicles to pull in and allow others to pass.
Pull into a passing place on your left: if you see a vehicle approaching or if a vehicle behind you wants to overtake.
Use passing places to stop and enjoy the view — not to park!
Ride single file and be aware of wildlife and sheep on the road.
